ThemeForest.net parent company Envato has made a name for itself when it comes to successfully managing public marketplaces for the development of WordPress themes and plugins. Home of the popular “Most Wanted” bounty program, the company has urged programmers from around the world to work on projects ranging from Facebook templates to extensive add-ons, all for the benefit of WordPress users and the community.
The most recent offer was posted by Envato Growth Officer Scott Wills on Thursday, January 10th. The entry discusses a new Opportunity for eCommerce authors who are familiar with the Open Source Commerce virtual store management software.
Freelance Job Opportunities
Before outlining exactly what the company is looking for in freelance developers, Wills wrote, “We very occasionally approach existing marketplace authors to provide files when we need new content for new marketplaces, new categories within existing marketplaces, or just because we want to expand certain categories with more content. We have such an opportunity right now for osCommerce Theme authors who are available for some potential, paid freelance work.”
WordPress e-Commerce sites have come into their own, especially with the addition of responsive designs that cater directly to the mobile device and tablet computer market. No longer does an online retail website owner need to hire a full time staff to design and maintain a successful template. There are hundreds of virtual Point of Sale themes on the open marketplace as you read this article; many of them running off of proven management systems such as WooCommerce.
Qualifications And Pre-requisites
There are a number of pre-requisites that the Envato team is looking for when it comes to hiring freelance project workers for the purpose of designing osCommerce themes. They are quoted below.We’re looking for Exclusive ThemeForest authors interested in creating/selling osCommerce Themes on ThemeForest.You must be available for freelance work in the next 1-2 months.You must be able to provide links to previous, relevant work to give us an idea of your background.Online personal work or files you already have on TF are both acceptable.We’re definitely interested in hearing from existing authors who might want to convert their own existing eCommerce themes (Shopify, OpenCart, PrestaShop etc.) to osCommerce.
Interested parties have been asked to reply directly by filling out a submission form that will be evaluated by the Envato staff as they consider who to hire for the upcoming osCommerce theme projects. The original thread posted by Wills has been purposely locked in order to encourage developers to fulfill the pre-set process.
