Jigoshop is an eCommerce plugin for WordPress that is free to download. Once installed the plugin allows you to create an online shop using WordPress.
Adding products to your store is very easy and products can be assigned to specific categories. You can also tag products as well. which should make it even easier for people to browse your shop (for example, you could tag items according to colour).
What is Jigoshop?
The Jigoshop dashboard gives you an overview of the number of products you have and the status of current orders. Orders can be set to pending, on hold, processing and completed. The dashboard also shows you if stock is low and there is a handy graph that shows you the total sales and sales amount that month.

You can modify how your shop is displayed in the settings area. It’s pretty impressive what you can do, particularly when consider that this is a free plugin. The settings area is split into 8 different sections: General, Pages, Catalog, Coupons, Inventory, Shipping, Tax and Payment Gateways. It is very flexible, particularly the ability to add coupons and tax to items.
The plugin is setup to work with cheques, PayPal and Moneybookers though the online documentation states that new gateways can be added by simply dropping them into the ‘gateways’ folder.
You have been wondering why a great plugin such as this has been released for free. Jigoshop decided to use a freemium business model. The WordPress plugin is free to download however their ready made theme, aptly called Jigotheme, retails for $69.
As you would expect, the theme works perfectly with the Jigoshop plugin. It comes with 8 different colour schemes, is optimised for mobile phones and is programmed using HTML 5 and CSS 3.
