Scott Berkun announced a major update of the popular Jetpack plugin at the end of last week. Version 1.2 finally adds Google+ and LinkedIn to the sharing widget.
An email subscription widget has also been added that allows users to subscribe to all of your posts via email. Via your widget area you can change the title, description and button text.
You can also show the number of people who are subscribing via email (it adds a widget for your subscriber count to your admin dashboard too).

Most of you will be aware that subscription via email is available to those who use the Feedburner service. The output is very similar using Jetpack.

There is also a new RSS links widget. You can display links to your post and comments RSS feed using text, images or both.
The size and colour of the RSS image can be changed accordingly. Unfortunately, you can’t make the colour of the post and comment RSS images different colours.
There is also better support for other languages, new shortcodes for VideoPress and Google Maps, an image widget and an improved user interface. Distribution to search engines for your posts and comments has also been improved.
Jetpack is starting to become an all in one plugin with a total of 11 major features. I recommend trying it out if you haven’t already 🙂
Thanks,
Kevin
