On Monday December 17th, premium WordPress theme company StudioPress.com launched its latest template, Decor8ted. The new download is currently available in its original Version 1.0 file. Decor8ted is recognized by the firm as a “Community Theme,” meaning it not included as part of the Pro Plus Package that is all-inclusive. Designed by Shannon Dow of EightCrazy Designs, the new release offers 3 color styles, 6 layout options, custom background, custom header, featured images, footer widgets, threaded comments, and is mobile responsive.

Decor8ted is a child theme that runs off of the Genesis Framework, which is available for $79 and includes one template. If StudioPress customers already have the framework installed, they can buy individual themes for 25% off provided the client is logged in.

Initial Feedback

Preliminary comments to the December 17th blog post suggest that there may be some pending tasks when it comes to full web browser compatibility. StudioPress customer e-rik said that “this is a lovely theme. I only wonder why it looks so different in Firefox17 and Internet Explorer 8. Isn’t it possible to get all the css3 and the typefont stuff right in IE too?”

User “Amy” was more positive in her reply. “Looks nice. Is the home page feed area a widget? I have a project it could fit well for but would need the blog on a separate page.” Another comment was added by Keith, who opined that the theme is “easy on the eye with terrific textured backgrounds. Love the built-in tutorials.”

Homepage Appearance

For Decor8ted, the emphasis is placed on the homepage with a unique layout that blends in well for personal blog sites. The featured posts are displayed in a one-column format with titles, publication date, large image, author name, category, excerpt text, tags and Continue Reading button. The overall design gives off a “stationery” feel due to the digital embroidery located at the bottom of each main entry.

Decor8ted Featured Posts

Posts will automatically archive with a page selector at the very bottom. The sidebar is where you or your webmaster can place any number of widgets such as Contact info, a search bar, subscribe option, social media buttons, ad banners and tags. These are highly useful when considering how best to customize your site in a way that will work well with front-end readers.

Additional Features

Although Decor8ted isn’t ideal for most corporate websites, you can still use this product to generate revenue thanks to its advertisement capability plus widgetized sidebar and footer regions. The traditional CMS style outline holds true for this theme with a navigation bar at the top of each page that includes drop down menus when sub-categories are needed. This simple and efficient method for reaching site content is one that website visitors have become accustomed to.

You will also be able to give mobile device and tablet computer users a preferred look when they come to your website, as Decor8ted is optimized for mobile use. This will greatly reduce many visitors’ frustration that comes from thumb-scrolling and pinching.

All StudioPress downloads that coordinate with the Genesis Framework boast Search Engine Optimization, turn-key designs and several unlimited services. Due to the company’s single license option, all customers are given immediate access that includes detailed tutorials, unlimited updates and full support for a one-time fee.

Genesis Framework Features

You can choose from three color schemes: blue, green and coral. There are also custom page templates for landing, archives and a blog feed.

It may take some time for the industry to analyze the long term appeal of a theme like Decor8ted, which places a higher priority on overall design instead of multi-faceted functionality. If you would like to find out more about this template, view the Decor8ted Demo here.
